Assyria against twelve kings, and the first mention of Arabs
The Assyrian king Shalmaneser III met an alliance of twelve kings led by Hadadezer of Damascus on the Orontes. Among them were Ahab of Israel with 2,000 chariots and 'Gindibu the Arab' with 1,000 camels, the first mention of Arabs in history. The outcome was unclear, and the Assyrian advance stalled for a time.
