A karst cave in the Sikhote-Alin mountains, 12 km from Dalnegorsk, yielded woven and plaited items of wild plant fibre, among the oldest surviving textiles. DNA from two women who lived here about 7,700 years ago is very close to that of today's Ulchi people on the Amur: the region's population barely changed for millennia.
