This Bronze Age culture of the Red River and Ma valleys lasted from about 1000 BC to the start of the Common Era. Its emblem is the great bronze drum decorated with boats, houses, birds and warriors, found from southern China to Indonesia. Vietnamese tradition links the period to the kingdom of Văn Lang and its Hùng kings.
