The Egtved Girl
Buried in summer 1370 BC, in a short corded skirt
Tree rings in her oak coffin show the girl, aged 16–18, was buried in the summer of 1370 BC, with a yarrow flower laid on the lid. She wore a wool blouse and a knee-length corded skirt, beside a birch-bark pail of drink made from wheat, honey and cowberries.
