Ezana's campaign on the Nile
An Aksumite king's inscription tells of a campaign on the Nile

Around 350 the Aksumite king Ezana, already a Christian, campaigned in Nubia and ravaged the lands along the Nile and the Atbara. His inscription in three languages — Ge'ez, Sabaean and Greek — tells the story; the kingdom of Kush with its capital at Meroë had by then faded away.
