Megarians found Byzantium
A Bosporus colony destined to become Constantinople

Tradition says colonists from Megara led by Byzas founded the city on the European shore of the Bosporus in 667 BC, 17 years after Chalcedon. The Delphic oracle supposedly told them to settle 'opposite the blind', the Chalcedonians who had missed the better site.
