Julian's Persian expedition
The emperor dies and his successor cedes Nisibis to Persia

In spring 363 Julian the Apostate led a huge army to the walls of Ctesiphon but could not take it and turned back; on 26 June he was mortally wounded in a skirmish. To extricate the army, the new emperor Jovian ceded Nisibis and the lands beyond the Tigris to Shapur II.
