The tooth drillers of Mehrgarh
Teeth drilled in living people 9,000 years ago
A Neolithic graveyard at Mehrgarh yielded eleven molars from nine adults with neat holes drilled while their owners were alive. The burials are 7,500–9,000 years old, making this the earliest evidence of a kind of proto-dentistry among early farmers.
