Ohalo II on the Sea of Galilee
Sown plots and grass beds 11,000 years before farming
About 23,000 years ago hunter-gatherers camped by the Sea of Galilee in brushwood huts; the lake later drowned the site, and its silt preserved even plants. It holds the oldest traces of small-scale cereal cultivation, weeds included, and a bed of dried grass on a hut floor.
