Athens and Sparta exhaust each other; Athens surrenders

The long war between Athens with its Delian League and Sparta with the Peloponnesian League ended in Athens' surrender in 404 BC. Chronicled by Thucydides, it exhausted the Greek city-states and broke Athenian power.
