The wine of the Shulaveri–Shomu culture
Wine was being made in the Caucasus 8,000 years ago

This culture's villages of round mud-brick houses spread across today's Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia from the late 7th to the early 5th millennium BC. Jar sherds from the Gadachrili Gora and Shulaveris Gora mounds hold traces of grape wine from about 6000 BC, the oldest yet known.
