Trojan War
Legend tells of a ten-year siege ended by a wooden horse

According to legend, the Achaeans under Agamemnon besieged Troy for ten years and took it with the wooden horse; Eratosthenes dated its fall to 1184 BC. Excavations at Hisarlik show that the city was indeed destroyed around that time.
