The Trypillia mega-sites
Villages of tens of thousands, the largest of their age
Around 4100–3500 BC Trypillia farmers built settlements of up to 3,000 houses laid out in concentric ovals, perhaps home to 20,000–46,000 people. Almost every house ended up burned, apparently on purpose, and why is still debated.
