An infant who revealed a lost people of Alaska
In Alaska's Tanana River valley two infants were buried about 11,500 years ago, dusted with red ochre and laid with antler foreshafts and points. The genome of one of the girls, published in 2018, revealed an unknown lineage, the "Ancient Beringians", who split from the ancestors of other Native Americans about 20,000 years ago.
