Ust'-Ishim man
A riverbank bone holding one of the oldest human genomes

The thigh bone of a man found in 2008 on the bank of the Irtysh in Omsk Oblast is about 45,000 years old. His genome, sequenced in 2014, already carried Neanderthal DNA in longer stretches than ours, which let scientists date the interbreeding to 7,000–13,000 years before his lifetime.
