Galba, Otho, Vitellius and Vespasian within a single year
After Nero's suicide in 68 the generals of the provincial armies took turns seizing power: Galba was murdered in January 69, Otho killed himself after a defeat, and Vitellius was lynched in Rome. Victory went to Vespasian, founder of the Flavian dynasty.
