The Bar Kokhba revolt
The last Jewish war against Rome begins a long exile

When Emperor Hadrian decided to rebuild Jerusalem as the Roman colony of Aelia Capitolina, the Jews revolted under Simon bar Kokhba. Rome crushed the revolt after the fall of the fortress of Betar; hundreds of thousands died. Jews were banned from Jerusalem, and the province was renamed Syria Palaestina.
