Aetius and the Visigoths stop Attila in Gaul
The Roman general Aetius, allied with the Visigoths, halted Attila's Hunnic invasion of Gaul; the Visigothic king Theodoric I fell in the battle. It checked the Huns' advance west, and their empire broke up after Attila's death in 453.
