Great Persecution
The last and harshest persecution of Christians in Rome

In February 303 Diocletian issued the first edict against the Christians at Nicomedia: churches were destroyed, scriptures burned and Christians stripped of their rights. In the East the persecution lasted until 311–313 and ended with Galerius's edict of toleration and the Edict of Milan.
