Egyptian–Hittite peace treaty
The oldest surviving peace treaty, in both sides' versions

Around 1259 BC, some fifteen years after the Battle of Kadesh, Ramesses II and the Hittite king Hattusili III made an 'eternal' peace and alliance. Both versions survive: the Egyptian one on temple walls and the Hittite one on cuneiform tablets from Hattusa.
