End of Roman Britain
Rome stops defending the province; the Britons are on their own

In 407 the usurper Constantine III took the last troops out of Britain, and in 410, according to Zosimus, Emperor Honorius told the island's cities to look to their own defence. Roman towns and villas fell into decay, and the Anglo-Saxons soon arrived in the east of the island.
