The Almoravids found Marrakesh
Warriors from the Sahara build the city that named Morocco
Around 1070 (traditionally 1062) the Almoravids, Berbers from the Sahara preaching a strict Islam, laid out Marrakesh. Under Yusuf ibn Tashfin they took Morocco and Muslim Spain, defeating Castile at Sagrajas in 1086. Marrakesh became the capital of a vast empire, and in many languages its name became the name of the whole country: Morocco.
