Gobero, a cemetery in the Sahara
Fishermen buried their dead in what is now open desert

In 2000 a team in Niger's Ténéré desert found some 200 burials on the shore of a vanished lake, the oldest known cemetery in the Sahara. About 10,000 years ago people here caught Nile perch and hunted hippos, and one woman was laid to rest with two children, their arms intertwined.
