Thylacine vanishes from mainland Australia
Gone from the mainland, it survives only in Tasmania

The thylacine is estimated to have died out on mainland Australia about 3,200 years ago, close to the Late Bronze Age collapse in the Mediterranean. A drier climate, humans and possibly dingoes are blamed; in Tasmania it survived into the 20th century.
