Trajan conquers Dacia
Dacian gold paid for Trajan's Forum and Column

After two wars (101–102 and 105–106) Trajan took the Dacian capital Sarmizegetusa; King Decebalus killed himself rather than be captured. Dacia became a Roman province, and the captured gold paid for Trajan's Forum and the column carved with scenes of the war.
