Xitle eruption buries Cuicuilco
Lava buries an early city and clears the way for Teotihuacan

Radiocarbon dates place the Xitle eruption between AD 245 and 315; its lava buried Cuicuilco, one of Mesoamerica's first large cities. The flight of its people seems to have helped the rise of nearby Teotihuacan.
