Italian City-States
The Italian confederacy was the state of Rome's rebel allies (the Marsi, Samnites and other Italic peoples) in the Social War of 91–88 BC. Refused Roman citizenship, they founded their own state, Italia, with its capital at Corfinium, a senate of 500 and its own coinage. Rome won by force and concession: laws of 90–89 BC granted citizenship to all Italians south of the Po.
