The Social War in Italy
Rome's Italian allies fight for citizenship and win it

In 91 BC Rome's allies — the Marsi, Samnites and other Italians — rose to demand Roman citizenship and founded their own state, Italia, with its capital at Corfinium. Rome won on the battlefield but conceded the main point: laws of 90–89 BC granted citizenship to all Italians.
