Battle of the Alta River and the Kiev uprising
The Cumans rout Yaroslav's sons, and Kiev overthrows its prince

The Cumans defeated the army of Yaroslav the Wise's three sons, Iziaslav, Sviatoslav and Vsevolod. The Kiev assembly demanded weapons to fight again and, when refused, rose up: Iziaslav fled to Poland, and Vseslav of Polotsk was freed from prison and put on the throne.
