Battle in the Tollense valley
Thousands of warriors clash in a north German river valley

In the 13th century BC perhaps 4,000 warriors from Central and Northern Europe fought in the valley of the small Tollense river. Archaeologists have found the remains of some 140 people, bronze weapons and horse bones; it is the largest known Bronze Age battlefield north of the Alps.
