Fall of Goguryeo
Tang and Silla take Pyongyang, ending the Three Kingdoms era
After decades of war, Tang and Silla troops took Pyongyang, the Goguryeo capital, in the autumn of 668. Silla soon drove out the Tang garrisons and by 676 had united most of the peninsula, while in 698 the state of Balhae arose on Goguryeo's northern lands.
