Fall of the Tang dynasty
China splits into Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms
In 907 the warlord Zhu Wen deposed the last Tang emperor and founded the Later Liang dynasty. Five short-lived dynasties followed one another in the north over half a century while ten kingdoms arose in the south; China was reunited only by the Song after 960.
