Great Siege of Malta
The Knights hold out against the Ottoman fleet for four months

In May 1565 a huge Ottoman fleet landed an army on Malta, held by the Knights Hospitaller. About six thousand defenders under Grand Master Jean de Valette repelled assaults for almost four months until relief arrived from Sicily in September; a new capital, Valletta, was built to mark the victory.
