The Kebra Nagast, 'Glory of the Kings'
The Queen of Sheba, the Ark and the right of Ethiopia's kings

In the early 14th century the Glory of the Kings was compiled in Ethiopia in the Ge'ez language. It tells how the Queen of Sheba bore Solomon a son, Menelik, who brought the Ark of the Covenant to Aksum. The legend upheld the claims of the Solomonic dynasty, which ruled Ethiopia until 1974.
