The Lion Gate of Mycenae
The only surviving monumental Mycenaean sculpture

Around 1250 BC the main entrance to the citadel of Mycenae was crowned with a relief of two lionesses flanking a column. It is the only monumental sculpture of Mycenaean Greece to survive; Pausanias saw and described the gate as early as the 2nd century AD.
