Roman envoys at the Han court
Men of 'King Andun' reach Luoyang by sea
The Book of the Later Han records that in 166 envoys of Andun, king of Daqin — Rome, probably Marcus Aurelius Antoninus — arrived via Rinan in central Vietnam with ivory, rhinoceros horn and tortoiseshell. They were most likely Roman merchants passing themselves off as an embassy.
