Muhammad Shaybani takes Samarkand
Uzbek nomads from the steppe replace the Timurids
Muhammad Shaybani, grandson of Abu'l-Khayr Khan, led the nomadic Uzbeks out of the Kipchak steppe and took Samarkand in 1500, driving out the Timurids and the young Babur. His dynasty founded a khanate that later moved its capital to Bukhara and lasted almost three centuries.
