Siege of Rhodes
The Knights Hospitaller repel Mehmed II's fleet

For almost three months the Knights of St John under Grand Master Pierre d'Aubusson beat off the Ottoman assaults. The siege was lifted in August 1480; Rhodes fell only in 1522, to Suleiman the Magnificent.
