Baptism of Clovis
The Frankish king turns Catholic, laying a base for France

Clovis I, king of the Franks, was baptised at Reims by Bishop Remigius, traditionally around 496. Unlike other Germanic kings, who were Arians, he chose Catholicism, winning the Franks the support of the Gallo-Roman elite and the Church.
