Battle of Klushino
After the tsar's army is routed, the Poles enter Moscow
On 4 July 1610 Hetman Stanisław Żółkiewski defeated Dmitry Shuisky's much larger Russian and Swedish army at Klushino. Tsar Vasili Shuisky was deposed, the boyars recognised the Polish prince Władysław as tsar, and in September a Polish garrison occupied the Kremlin; only the militia of 1612 drove it out.
