Battle of Mansurah
The Seventh Crusade perishes in the Nile Delta

The army of Louis IX, which had landed in Egypt, was stalled at Mansurah and surrounded during the retreat; the king was captured and ransomed. The victors were the Mamluks, slave guardsmen who that same year killed the last Ayyubid sultan of Egypt and seized power.
