Battle of Suzdal
Grand Prince Vasily II is taken captive by the Kazan Tatars
Near Suzdal the sons of Khan Ulugh Muhammad routed the Muscovite army and captured Grand Prince Vasily II. He was freed for a huge ransom, but in 1446 his rival Dmitry Shemyaka seized Moscow and blinded him, earning him the name Vasily the Blind. The civil war ended only in 1453.
