The fall of Trebizond
Mehmed II takes the last fragment of Byzantium

The Empire of Trebizond arose on the southern shore of the Black Sea in 1204, when the crusaders took Constantinople. Eight years after Constantinople fell, Mehmed II besieged Trebizond by land and sea, and Emperor David Megas Komnenos surrendered. It was the end of the last Greek state to succeed Byzantium.
