Aqtaban Shubyryndy, the years of great disaster
Kazakhs flee the Dzungars until their heels wear white
In spring 1723 Dzungar armies fell on the Kazakh pastures and took Turkistan and Tashkent. The Kazakhs call the mass flight south Aqtaban Shubyryndy, roughly 'fleeing till the soles turned white'; the disaster united the three hordes, whose army beat the Dzungars at Anrakay around 1730.
