Treaty of Karlowitz
The Ottomans cede vast lands to Europe for the first time

The peace signed at Karlowitz in January 1699 concluded the Great Turkish War that began with the siege of Vienna. The Ottomans ceded Hungary and Transylvania to Austria, Podolia to Poland and the Morea to Venice; Russia agreed a truce and gained Azov in 1700.
