Founding of the Crimean Khanate
Hacı Giray breaks Crimea away from the Horde, until 1783

Around 1441 Hacı Giray, a descendant of Genghis Khan, became independent khan of Crimea with the backing of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. His Giray dynasty ruled for over three centuries; from 1475 the khanate was an Ottoman vassal, and in 1783 Russia annexed it.
