Death of the last Pyrenean ibex
A lost species is cloned — and goes extinct a second time

On 6 January 2000 a falling tree killed Celia, the last Pyrenean ibex, or bucardo, in the Spanish Pyrenees. In 2003 a clone was born from her cells but lived only minutes: the first 'de-extinction' in history, and the first second extinction.
