Theodoric besieges Ravenna
A three-year siege ends with Odoacer killed at a feast
Defeated by Theodoric's Ostrogoths, Odoacer shut himself up in 490 in Ravenna, protected by marshes. In February 493 he surrendered on terms of joint rule, but days later Theodoric killed him at a banquet and became king of Italy.
