The Battle of Chaeronea
Philip II and young Alexander bring Greece under Macedon

In 338 BC King Philip II of Macedon defeated the alliance of Athens and Thebes; his 18-year-old son Alexander led the left wing and broke the enemy line. Philip united the Greeks in the League of Corinth for a war on Persia, but he was murdered in 336 BC and the campaign passed to Alexander.
