Fall of Candia
One of the longest sieges in history — 21 years

The Ottomans landed on Venetian Crete in 1645 and from 1648 besieged its capital, Candia. The city held out for 21 years, with volunteers from all over Europe coming to help Venice, but in September 1669 Francesco Morosini surrendered the fortress and Crete became Ottoman.
